Hudson’s new iPad game Knights of the Phantom Castle was not on my radar until this afternoon. I saw some screenshots of the really nice looking, 16-bit-ish strategy game and was like hey, this looks good! Sprites, role-playing, armies and monsters? This is all stuff I like!

You build your force of knights up during the Camp phase, and then you decide on your tactics and gear in the Deployment phase. You’ll work your way through 50 stages using tap and flick commands to…command. Then, in Battle Stage, you get your fight on. In the game’s bulletpoints it says that you can use multitouch to command several army units (six classes, each with unique abilities) at once.

Knights of the Phantom Castle is now available on the App store for $9.99. I’m going to check it out for review very soon.

In the meantime, check out the gallery below. I’m sure you’ll agree that this game looks great.
