Whiskey Sour anyone?

With the release of patch 7.1 in Final Fantasy XIV, many new items were added that can be purchased or obtained from various sources. One of these items was foretold in the preliminary patch notes and can turn even the clumsiest of players into a cocktail genius.

The Shake Drink emote is a perpetual emote, meaning that it doesn’t end until you move or do something to interrupt it. It’s not just visual, either, as long as the emote is being performed, a shaking sound will accompany the movement.

This is a particularly exciting emote for those who dip into the FFXIV Roleplay community, particularly those who partake in the nightlife scene. It adds a new level of realism to the bars and clubs frequented by players and it is a welcome surprise for this patch.

If you want to get the Shake Drink emote, you’ll need to visit the Vegas of Eorzea — The Gold Saucer. When you get there, head to the “Gold Saucer Attendant <Prize Claim>” NPC and select the “Registerable Miscellany” option to find a list of emotes, hairstyles, mounts, and minions.

Scroll down a little until you find an item called “Ballroom Etiquette – Fancy Beverages”. This is the item you need to purchase to unlock the Shake Drink emote, and it will cost you 50,000 MGP

Once you’ve purchased it, use it from within your inventory by right-clicking on it and pressing “Use”, and then you can use the emote in one of two ways. The first way is through the emote menu, which can be found under “Social”. The Shake Drink emote can be found in the “Special” tab of the emote menu.

Alternatively, you can simply type “/shakedrink” in the chat window to pull out your cocktail shaker.

  • Enter the Jumbo Cactpot (X:8.5 Y:5.9) weekly, and the Mini Cactpot (X:5.1 Y:6.5) daily
  • Sell any spare Triple Triad Cards to the vendor at the Gold Saucer (X:4.1 Y:7.4)
