If you’ve got a player house in Final Fantasy XIV, you’ll be pretty used to working with the interior that’s determined by the location of the house. However, as part of patch 7.1, players with estates can now choose to change the design of their interior, regardless of exterior location.
Prior to this point, each location had a set interior that could not be changed. Houses in The Goblet had a more desert-like theme, Shirogane boasts a more traditional Japanese-inspired Aesthetic, and so on. With the new option to change your interior design, it doesn’t matter where the house is, the inside is up to you.
And it’s not just the same old designs that we have to choose from. Also added in patch 7.1 was the new sleek and modern “Minimalist Style”. Not only does this remove all columns, it paints the entire space white, gives gloriously blank white walls ready to be decorated, and also moves the entire staircase in houses on larger plots.
How to change interior design in Final Fantasy XIV
In order to change the interior design of a private house in Final Fantasy XIV, you’ll need to either be the owner of the plot or have furnishing placement authorization. If you want to change the interior of a Free Company house, you’ll need to have hall remodeling authorization from the FC leader.
The good news is that not only is the option to change the interior design of your house entirely free, but you’ll also be able to do it as many times and as often as you like. However, it’s worth remembering that changing the interior design of a house will result in all furnishing being transferred to the estate’s storeroom.
If there isn’t enough space for everything in the estate’s storeroom, you’ll be unable to change the design of the interior. In other words, it’s time to adopt a Marie Kondo mindset and get to decluttering if you want to benefit from this newly added feature. Reduce the hoard, how often do you use that Dance Pole in the bedroom anyway?
Changing the design of your house interior is remarkably easy, as the option has been added to the usual menu that you’ll see when redecorating or moving around the furniture. To get there, open up the “Social” menu, then select “Housing”, and the “Interior Design” option will now be the fifth in the list.
All interior design options in Final Fantasy XIV
After selecting the “Interior Design” option, you’ll be free to browse through the following options and select your desired style:
- Riviera Style (Mist default style)
- Glade Style (Lavender Beds default style)
- Oasis Style (The Goblet default style)
- Far Eastern Style (Shirogane default style)
- Highland Style (Empyreum default style)
- Minimalist Style (Newly added modern blank canvas)
The only downside to changing the interior design of your house is the aforementioned result of furniture being transferred to storage. This means that you’ll then need to spend a few hours putting things back together, or redesigning completely based on the new look of the house.
