Best Age of Empires Mobile Civilization

The best Age of Empires (AoE) Mobile civilization is the Chinese. In fact, we recommend every player start as the Chinese civilization because it will certainly give you an advantage. To understand why the Chinese civilization is the best one, let’s first take a look at the bonuses they receive:

Chinese Civilization Bonuses

  • Archers’ Defense + 5%
  • Villager Capacity + 8
  • Walls Durability + 10%

The main reason the Chinese civilization is so good in Age of Empires Mobile is that +8 Village Capacity. This is a huge bonus, especially in the early game, that really sets this civilization ahead of the rest due to the strong bonus. In AoE Mobile, the more villagers you have, the more resources you can accrue. Each village you assign to gather a specific resource will increase how much of that resource you get per hour. Having the ability to train and then assign eight more villagers than other civilizations is a huge increase in the amount of resources you are receiving.

Other Good Civilization Choices

If the strong advantage of having access to eight additional villagers at all times isn’t appealing to you, there are a few other solid options for civilization in Age of Empires Mobile. The other two strong civilization choices are the Japanese and Roman civilizations. For the most part, the Japanese civilization is another strong early-game starting choice, while the Roman civillization gives you some strong potential once you are later into the game. Here are the bonuses for each civilization:

Japanese Civilization Bonuses

  • Bonus Attack Against Tribes in the World (PvE) + 10%
  • Bonus Attack Against Player Citadels (PvP) + 5%
  • Swordsman’s Defense + 5%

Roman Civilization Bonuses

  • Healing Speed + 5%
  • Pikeman’s Defense + 5%
  • Villagers Boost to Building Production + 30

The Japanese civilization is such a strong starting choice due to the 10% bonus attack against tribes in the world. Sure, the 5% bonus attack against other players can be nice. But the 10% bonus in PvE will allow you to target stronger PvE enemies in the overworld earlier than others, allowing you to receive more resources for taking them out. This, like the Chinese civilization bonus, can be a huge boon in the early game to help you get ahead of other civilizations.

As for the Roman civilization, the villagers’ boost to building production (Farms, Mills, Lumber Camps, and Quarries) is very powerful once you are in the late game and have tons of villagers. This bonus is a flat 30, rather than a percentage, but still scales well once you have a ton of villagers. Early game when you have say 20-40 villagers, this bonus doesn’t add much compared to the thousands of resources you’re gaining. But in the late game when you have hundreds of villagers, an extra +30 per villager can add up to thousands more of each resource. The healing speed and Pikeman defense buffs are also nice, but the real value here is with the villager production boost.

In the end, a solid option with Age of Empires (AoE) Mobile would be to start as Chinese or Japanese when you begin playing, and then once you’ve progressed far enough ahead and built up a massive infrastructure and army, you can switch to the Romans. Just remember that each time you switch civilizations it will cost 200 Empire Coins, the premium currency, to do so.
