How to get a Sea Cucumber in Stardew Valley

Fish-adjacent.

There are lots of different fish to catch in Stardew Valley, and even some non-fish which still count as fish. One such animal is the Sea Cucumber. Not quite a fish, but definitely not a vegetable, this creature can seem pretty elusive.

If you’re looking to catch a Sea Cucumber, there are two different times during which it can be caught. Firstly, it can be found between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. during Fall and Winter, on the Beach or on your Farm, if you opted to play on a Beach Farm.

The second opportunity to catch a Sea Cucumber comes during the Night Market, which occurs between Winter 15 and 17. Each night during the event, fishing in the deep-sea submarine offers a 5% chance to reel in a Sea Cucumber.

Either way, you can use Magic Bait to negate both the seasonal and time restrictions for any fish, including Sea Cucumber. This will allow you to catch it at any time of the year, so you don’t have to wait until Fall to get your hands on one.

If you’re hoping to skip over the catching part, there are a couple of other ways to get a Sea Cucumber. You can sometimes find them for sale at the Traveling Cart for between 225 and 1,000 Gold, or otherwise find them in Trash Cans around Pelican Town during Fall and Winter.

Although it isn’t used as part of any Bundles, normal or remixed, the Sea Cucumber still has a lot of uses and is worth catching, even if only to fill out the Almanac.

Gifting and quests

Although most villagers dislike receiving Sea Cucumber as a gift, there is one who will love to get one — Willy. On the other hand, avoid giving one to Ellliott, Evelyn, Haley, or Pierre, as they won’t appreciate getting one as a gift, no matter how thoughtful you’re trying to be.

Outside of this, a Sea Cucumber can be requested at any time in Fall or Winter on the “Help Wanted” Board, rewarding 225 Gold and 150 Friendship points upon completion.

Recipes

There are four recipes which can use Sea Cucumber as an ingredient, although only one which specifically requires one. However, this one recipe is very worth making as it increases your Luck by 3 when consumed.
