Risk of Rain 2: How to unlock the False Son

Ain't no fortunate one.

Risk of Rain 2ā€™s Seekers of the Storm DLC is out now, and it comes with a lot of new additions. One such addition is new characters, and among them is the False Son. Unfortunately, heā€™s one of the harder characters to obtain, partially because luck is a factor.

To get the obvious out of the way: in order to unlock The False Son, youā€™re going to need to have the Seekers of the Storm DLC and have it activated. With that out of the way, your first goal is to get to the Gilded Coast. The standard way to reach it is by finding a gold portal. These are created by finding and using a Gold Altar. You can also sometimes find them in the Bazaar Between Time for three Lunar Coins. It largely comes down to luck, but thatā€™s not where it ends.

Once youā€™re in the Gilded Coast, youā€™ll need to find an Aurelionite and defeat it. It will drop a Halcyon seed, which youā€™ll need in your inventory.

You then need to defeat the False Son boss. To do this, youā€™ll need to loop around back to level 1 (complete a full set of regular levels). Find a Halcyon Shrine, which appears as a large green crystal. Using the Halcyon Shrine will drain you of gold, and when itā€™s fully activated, it will spawn a gold boss. Defeat the boss, and it will open a green portal. Go through it.

Keep going through two more stages, and youā€™ll arrive at Prime Meridian. At the top of this stage is the False Son boss fight. Defeat it with the Halcyon Seed in your inventory, and youā€™ll be rewarded with a new character.
