The world of One Piece is filled with legendary battles, but not all of them have been shown on screen. Some of the most intriguing and impactful fights have been mentioned in passing or shown incompletely, making us fans wonder what actually happened during those moments.
To make matters worse, some of these events have literally molded part of the One Piece verse, making it more frustrating not knowing how epic the battles have turned out. That being said, here are ten offscreen fights that every One Piece fan would love to see brought to life.
Akainu VS Aokiji
Imagine two Admirals going head-to-head for ten days straight, with an entire island caught in the crossfire. Thatās exactly what happened when Akainu and Aokiji clashed on Punk Hazard as they battled for the position of Fleet Admiral. This fight was so intense it literally split the island into fiery and frozen halves. We know Aokiji walked away without a leg and Akainu with severe injuries, but seeing how these two powerhouses pushed each other to the limit would be something else.
Ace VS Blackbeard
The duel between Portgas D. Ace and Marshall D. Teach is one of the most pivotal confrontations in the series. This battle, which took place on Banaro Island, led to Aceās capture and ultimately set the stage for the Marineford War. Weāve seen glimpses of their fight, where the clash between Aceās Flame Flame Fruit and Blackbeardās Dark-Dark Fruit was fierce and destructive. However, the full scope of how Blackbeard managed to defeat Ace and the desperation and determination that drove both men remain largely unexplored.
Furthermore, Blackbeard and his crew are known for employing underhanded tricks to achieve their goal. It’s certainly interesting to know whether Blackbeard actually defeated Ace on his own or his crew lent him a hand or two.
Shanks VS Kaido
It’s no exaggeration to say that Marineford War is one of the most epic battles in One Piece, and perhaps in anime history. The clash between Whitebeard Pirates and their allies against the World Government shook the entire world. However, it could have been crazier if another Emperor ā Kaido, King of the Beasts ā joined in on the fray. It didn’t happen simply because Shanks stopped Kaido from interfering.
Unfortunately, nothing is known about this battle. Despite the two Emperors supposedly duking it out during the war, Shanks and his crew still managed to arrive at Marineford to put a halt to the fighting after Whitebeard’s death. Furthermore, Shanks or his crew didn’t seem to have suffered any sort of damage, making us wonder just what actually happened during their fight.
Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp VS the Rocks Pirates
The Rocks Pirates, led by Rocks D. Xebec, was one of the strongest pirate crews in the series. After all, its crew consisted of young Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, Shiki, and many other future influential pirates. In a sense, they also embodied piracy in the truest sense. They aimed to rule the world, seeking glory for their own selfish goals. Their downfall came during the God Valley Incident, wherein they tried to target the World Nobles and their treasures. This led Roger, and consequently Garp, to head to the island, which resulted in Roger and Garp taking down the Rocks Pirates.
Other than Sengoku’s narration of the events, very little is known about the incident. Aside from the fighting, the incident also had other notable events: Ivankov and Kuma escaping slavery and Linlin getting Kaido’s Devil Fruit.
Shanks VS Mihawk
Shanks and Mihawk were rival swordsmen fighting on equal grounds. Before Shanks lost his arm, the duels between him and Mihawk were said to have shaken the Grand Line. These battles are the stuff of legend, often mentioned but never fully shown. The fact that Mihawk is the reigning worldās greatest swordsman and Shanks is one of the Four Emperors, their duels must have been epic. Hopefully, we will get to see at least one of their many matches soon.
Blackbeard Pirates VS remnants of Whitebeard Pirates
Whitebeard’s death officially marked the end of an era. Given how the former Emperor met his end, it’s unsurprising that the remnants of his crew, who he referred to as children, wanted to seek vengeance against the Blackbeard Pirates. After all, not only did Blackbeard and his cronies murder Whitebeard in cold blood, but their captain defiled his fresh corpse and stole his Devil Fruit. The battle occurred a year after Marineford War with Marco leading the troops. As everyone already knows, the remaining Whitebeard Pirates lost and ultimately disbanded.
Shanks VS Blackbeard
Blackbeard has always been one inconspicuous character, slyly plotting evil deeds in the background. However, he has long proven the danger he poses as a character. The three claw scars on Shanks’ eye stand as a testament to that. According to the Emperor, Blackbeard gave him the scar and not due to his carelessness. Granted it is unknown when exactly the two fought, but it would still be intriguing to see Blackbeard injuring younger Shanks in a fair fight.
Gol D. Roger VS Monkey D. Garp
Similar to Shanks and Mihawk, Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp were longstanding rivals. The two had numerous bouts, with the latter constantly chasing the former. However, the two developed trust and respect for each other through the years, with Roger even entrusting his son Ace to Garp. Even so, none of their fights have been shown. Given that they are also the strongest among their generation, it’s certainly safe to assume their matches were feasts to the eye.
Gecko Moria VS Kaido
Gecko Moria may be one of the creepiest characters in the series, but he hasn’t always been that way. During his prime years, he had a crew consisting of humans. However, he suffered defeat from Kaido, resulting in a drastic change in his personality. Their fight led to the annihilation of Moria’s crew, though Moria did manage to steal Ryuma’s corpse. Moria then lost faith in living allies and started amassing an undead army. Given the change in Moria’s personality, seeing how much Kaido beat his bottom would certainly be intriguing.
Blackbeard Pirates VS the Revolutionary Army
Jesus Burgess, a top commander in Blackbeardās crew, is the first to discover the Revolutionary Army’s headquarters after following Sabo to Baltigo. He then called the rest of his pirate crew and obliterated the place. The aftermath of this battle left Baltigo in ruins, but the specifics of the fight remain largely unknown. The news only stated that the Blackbeard Pirates already razed the Revolutionary Army’s settlement when the government arrived.
Given that the Revolutionary Army is the major force opposing the World Government, the Blackbeard Pirates certainly couldn’t have easily defeated them. Even so, it would be interesting to see how the pirates did pull such a feat.
