How to unlock new animals in Fields of Mistria

I'm beginning to wonder how Mistria survived without us

Animals play a huge part in Fields of Mistria. Not only are they your company on the farm, but they’re also a rich source of resources that you’ll need to cook meals or complete quests. To start with, you only have access to cows and chickens, but there are more animals to unlock.

You’ll need to have spent a lot of time in Mistria before you can unlock new animals. The quest to do so comes after a list of previous quests:

  • Repair the Bridge
  • Repair the Mill
  • Upgrade the General Store
  • Repair the Beach Bridge
  • Replenish Mistria’s emergency food supply

Once you’ve completed the five main story quests mentioned above (and some other quests in between), you’ll get another letter in the mail from Adeline. This one, called ‘Project for Hayden,’ asks you to meet her at Sweetwater Farm.

Adeline thinks it’s a good idea to expand Hayden’s list of farm animals. To do so, you’ll need to upgrade both the Coop and the Barn on Sweetwater Farm. Of course, this comes with a hefty list of resources that you must provide, and on top of that, you’re paying for the upgrade as well.

To upgrade the buildings, you’ll need:

  • 400 Wood
  • 8 Iron Ingots
  • 500 Stone
  • 4,000 Tesserae

Once you’ve put the resources into the donation box at Sweetwater Farm, make sure you’ve got the 4,000 Tesserae and then talk to Adeline to complete the quest.

Now we get to the fun part and the reason for completing this quest – new animals.

Once you’ve upgraded the farm buildings, you’ll be able to purchase six new different animals, who will take up residence in the following buildings:

Coop

  • Rabbits
  • Ducks
  • Capybaras

Barn

  • Horses
  • Sheep
  • Alpacas

Each of these animals comes with a whole new range of Animal Cosmetics, as well. You’ll also unlock medium Coops and Barns for your farm, which can be purchased from the Carpenter’s Shop.

Medium Coops and Barns can hold up to 8 animals each, so you can have plenty of company around the farm This, in turn, will increase the number of Shiny Beads you can get per day.
