Compared to other Team Go Rocket bosses, Arlo is one of the more challenging opponents with his diverse array of Pokémon. How to defeat Arlo in Pokémon Go
The Pokémon Go Adventure Week update changes Arlo’s classic team ensemble, which you may have gotten familiar with. In particular, he will now start with Shadow Anorith, a fairly strong Rock and Bug Type. If you haven’t found Arlo yet, you’ll need to beat six Team Go Rocket Grunts to unlock the Rocket Radar for his location.
Once you’ve found him, it’s time to start building the right team to withstand his attacks.
Best team lineup for Arlo in Pokémon Go
Tyranitar, Lucario, and Blaziken are among the best teams to use against Arlo in Pokémon Go. Lucario excels in most Team Go Rocket fights, including Giovanni and Cliff. As a Steel and Fighting Type, it can knock out Anorith, Steelix, Gardevoir, and Snorlax. Tyranitar is another superb choice, as it can go against most of Arlo’s Pokémon during the first and second rounds.
Your third team member can honestly be your preferred choice, but to narrow it down, Blaziken is a pretty good contender. This creature will significantly help with Scizor, who has a major weakness to Fire Types. Beyond this, Blaziken can also help with Steelix and Snorlax.
There are other ways to go about the third choice, from Electic to Water Types. It all depends on what Arlo has in his arsenal, so we’ll cover a few alternatives to prepare you.

If you’re keen on adding a Water Type to your party, Kyogre can be an excellent asset to the team. It will hit the weaknesses of Anorith in the first round and Steelix much later. Lucario and Tyranitar can also deal a ton of damage in the first round, thanks to Anorith’s additional vulnerability to Rock and Steel.
In the second round, you’ll go against Crobat, Steelix, or Gyrados. Electric Types like Xurkitree, Zekrom, and Zapdos can shine here, but they may prove less effective with Steelix. Use your Fire, Water, or Fighting Types to inflict more damage on this creature. Ground Pokémon work well, too, especially if you have Groudon.
The last round brings out Snorlax, Scizor, or Gardevoir. Each Pokémon has its own set of weaknesses, so it’ll be challenging to cover all of them. However, Blaziken can at least take down Snorlax and Scizor due to its Fire and Fighting Types. As for Gardevoir, use Lucario for its Steel vulnerability. It is also weak to Poison and Ghost Types if you have those in your party.
