When you first begin a new save on Fields of Mistria, you have a small plot of farmable land outside your house which has a total of 68 available spaces for crop growth. You could be forgiven for thinking that’s all you can ever have, but there’s a very easy way to get more space.
If you’re not happy with the space provided, you’ll be pleased to know that all you need in order to get some more is a shovel. Unfortunately, you’ll need to put in some work to get one.
How to get a shovel in Fields of Mistria
Your first option is to save up 500 Tesserae in order to purchase a Worn Shovel from the General Store, which might be a tall order if you’re wanting to do this quickly. We’ve got some handy tips on making money in Fields of Mistria, but there’s also another way to get a Shovel if you’re not willing to part with the cash.
You can, if you have the resources, make a Copper Shovel at the Forge. The Copper Shovel comes with the benefit of being able to be charged, allowing you to dig three squares at once rather than one at a time.
You’ll need a total of 40 Copper Ore if you want to take this route, and there’s a couple of ways you can get them:
- Head down into the Mines between floors 1 and 20, where Copper Ore is common
- Purchase Copper Ore from the Blacksmiths for 50 Tesserae each, as long as you’ve unlocked the Mines
How to get more crop plots in Fields of Mistria
Once you’ve got your choice of shovel in hand, you can begin to expand your arable land. Getting more plots is simple, and you can even turn your entire farm into one massive crop field if you so desire.
Just take your shovel and, as long as there isn’t anything on top of the square of land you want to dig, you can remove the grass and create a dirt square. When you’ve got your dirt area ready, you can then use your Hoe to turn this area into somewhere for your seeds to grow.
