If there’s one thing that the Battlefield series is getting a solid rep for it is its multiplayer, especially after the phenomenal success of Battlefield: 1943 (once it started actually working). It should come as no surprise then that the developers are pimping Battlefield: Bad Company 2‘s multiplayer gameplay long before they have even mentioned anything about the single player. The above video outlines the Atacam Desert multiplayer map and uses it to show off Battlefield‘s vehicle action, graphical prowess and level destruction. Not to mention giving Karl-Magnus Troedsson a chance to talk-up almost every aspect of the multiplayer.
It’s that level destruction that is really key here. With helicopters, tanks and guns that can rip through almost anything the ability to actually knock down an entire building means that almost no cover anywhere is truly safe. Camping could become a thing of the past as your perfect hiding spot gets leveled by a rampaging tank, which in turn gets torn to shreds by a helicopter, which in turn gets shot down by a rocket launcher from a solider who just got the perfect angle to take it down because the house that was blocking his shot was just blown up by the tank. That sounds like awesome multiplayer to me.
