How to get the Black Kitten minion in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV)

Smaller is cuter

With the introduction of The Arcadion to Final Fantasy XIV, the new 8-player raid series comes with new gear to get. But it also comes with another drop, one which is formed in the image of our new second.

The Black Kitten minion is, as you may suspect, a miniature version of Black Cat. She’s the first opponent we face and defeat inside The Arcadion and goes on to become our second after her defeat at our hand.

Of course you’ll need to unlock The Arcadion first and make your way through the various opponents from the Light-heavyweight tier.

The Black Kitten minion is a guaranteed drop in the coffer which appears after completing AAC Light-Heavyweight M4. As such, you’ll need to get through all four fights before you can hope to get this little buddy by your side.

You’ll need to defeat the following opponents before getting to this coffer:

  • Black Cat
  • Honey B. Lovely
  • Brute Bomber
  • Wicked Thunder

Once you’ve defeated Wicked Thunder, you’ll need to be lucky. You’ll be rolling against seven other players, especially this early into new content, so you’ll need to roll really high to get the Black Kitten minion.

Once you’ve got her, she’s pretty stationary except for the occasional outburst of battle techniques reminiscent of those we saw Black Cat use during her fight. She doesn’t react to petting or feeding, and I’ve not witnessed any interactions with other minions as of yet.
