While some dungeon drop minions in Final Fantasy XIV can seem a little random, some are the spitting image of one of the bosses. One of the Dawntrail dungeon minions, Ambrose the Unfinished, is one such minion.
I’m not sure what exactly makes this minion unfinished, perhaps it’s the size, or the fact that it doesn’t seem to be able to fight. Regardless, this is a pretty interesting minion to own and looks pretty badass trailing behind you as you seek out adventure.
How to get the Ambrose the Unfinished minion in Final Fantasy XIV
If you’ve made your way through Origenics, you’ll definitely recognise this minion as a miniature version of the final boss, Ambrose the Undeparted.
As such, you’ll need to fight your way through the entire dungeon, including all three of the bosses – Herpekaris, Deceiver, and Ambrose the Undeparted himself – before you can hope to see Ambrose the Unfinished as a drop in the final coffer of the dungeon.
Despite Origenics being by far the most common dungeon I’ve run through Roulettes in the past week, I’ve only seen Ambrose drop once from this coffer. I’m not sure if that’s just my bad luck (although I did roll high, so there’s that), or a sign of rarity.
Can you buy the Ambrose the Unfinished minion in Final Fantasy XIV?
You can buy Ambrose the Unfinished on the Marketboard, as it is a tradeable item. According to Universalis, prices for this minion on North American servers currently range between 300,000 and 500,000 Gil. While it’s not the cheapest Dawntrail minion you can currently buy, it is definitely one of the most interesting.
