How to get the Wind-up Mamool Ja minion in FFXIV Dawntrail

Some minions in Final Fantasy XIV are more elusive than others. With Dawntrail, one of these minions has been the Wind-up Mamool Ja. It’s taken almost two weeks to figure out where this little cutie comes from, but it’s finally been tracked down. 

Unfortunately, it’s not easy to get. You’ll need to put in some effort, albeit passively, to get your hands on this minion. 

How to get the Baby Mamool Ja minion in Final Fantasy XIV

Getting a Wind-up Mamool Ja minion in FFXIV means relying on your Retainers, and possibly changing their Job, to bring one home for you. 

To get a Wind-up Mamool Ja, you’ll need a Retainer that’s a Miner, as this minion comes from Highland Exploration XXXI Ventures. This means you’ll need to level up your retainer to level 100 before you can even hope of them bringing a Wind-up Mamool Ja home. After that, it’s all down to luck. 

If you do want to change your Retainer’s Job to Miner, there is some good news. Rather than leveling them all the way from level one, you can purchase a copy of One Retainer’s Journey via the FFXIV Online Store. Once this is in your inventory, you can interact with any of your Retainers and immediately increase their level to 90. 

Can you buy the Wind-up Mamool Ja minion in Final Fantasy XIV?

Yes, but you’re going to be lucky if you can. For starters, the Wind-up Mamool Ja is currently selling for around 50 million Gil according to Universalis, so you’ll need to have pretty deep pockets. On top of that, it’s unlikely that we’ll see a lot of these adorable minions for sale yet.
