FFXIV Mascot Murder Special FATE rewards and spawn guide

He's not as cute as he looks

With Dawntrail, two new Special FATEs have been added to Final Fantasy XIV. These high-level FATEs are very hard to complete and designed for a lot of people to take part in, but they do give some epic rewards.

The two FATEs added in Dawntrail are called The Serpentlord Seethes and Mascot Murder. In this guide, we’ll go over how to spawn Mascot Murder, which offers the Mica Suit as a reward.

How to spawn Mascot Murder in Final Fantasy XIV

There are a few things to remember if you want to take part in Mascot Murder:

You’ll need to be able to fly, or otherwise have someone willing to chauffeur you to the FATE’s arena. If you haven’t already, now is a good time to unlock all of the Living Memory Aether Currents. As well as this, you’ll need at least one Job at level 100 if you have any hopes of getting through this FATE alive and receiving enough rewards to get the suit.

Most importantly, even if you complete the prerequisite FATE chain, there is no guarantee that Mascot Murder will spawn. If the FATE is in its cooldown period, it won’t be possible to spawn it at all. To see whether Mascot Murder is in its cooldown period, I recommend checking Faloop! regularly, and joining their Discord server for real-time notifications when the FATE spawns.

In order to get your hands on the Mica Suit, you’ll need to take part in the level 100 Special FATE which takes place in Living Memory, aptly called Mascot Murder. However, even spawning this FATE is not easy and you’ll need to put in some effort to get the reward. On the plus side, it’s at least two knocked off your Shared FATEs.

You’ll need to complete the following FATEs in Living Memory in order to possibly spawn Mascot Murder:

FATE nameLocationLevelFATE type
Mascot March(X:35.8, Y:34.2)99Slay enemies
Mascot Mayhem(X:35.8, Y:34.2)99Notorious Monster

Both of these FATEs spawn in the same location, and the second will spawn immediately upon successful completion of the first. They’re both relatively simple, with the first requiring you to take down a large number of small bunnies and the second requiring the defeat of two oversized bunnies.

As long as Mascot Mayhem isn’t on cooldown, there’s a chance that it will spawn within a few minutes of completing Mascot Mayhem.

Thankfully, you don’t have to hover around the FATE arena in order to know if it has spawned. With 7.0, Special FATEs from Stormblood onwards will now appear as a FATE marker on the map, allowing you to know from a distance whether it has spawned. Failing that, you’ll usually see a sudden increase in people arriving to the area and shout chat will light up with people looking for parties.

Mascot Murder spawns at (X:37.2, Y:33.3), on top of a small rampart called the Tower of Mu behind the ferris wheels in Yesterland. This area is inaccessible if you do not have the ability to fly, so unlocking those Aether Currents is vital if you want to guarantee your place taking part in the Special FATE.

Depending on the level of your contribution during the FATE, you will receive between two and six Mica Magicogs. These can then be exchanged with Uah’Shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.6, Y:13.5) for both the Mica Head and the Mica Suit.

You’ll need 10 Mica Magicogs in order to get the full suit, six for the body and four for the head, so you’ll need to take part in Mascot Murder at least twice to get the full rewards. If you successfully complete the FATE twice with a gold rating, you’ll end up with two leftover Mica Magicogs.
