EA FC 24: Best free players to use in Ultimate Team

In EA FC 24 Ultimate Team, there are different ways to earn free players to add to your squad.

However, only a few of them tend to be good in the long term. Most of the items that have been made available via objectives and seasonal rewards so far could have been better. The ongoing Festival of Football season is a rare exception, as you can get some incredible cards from there for free. These players can be considered worthwhile choices even if you’re playing in Elite divisions.

Best free cards to use in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team

As of this writing, all the names mentioned here are available. They’re either part of the Season 7 rewards or part of an objective task.

Youssouf Fofana Path to Glory

At first, Fofana’s item looked ordinary when it was released as an objective reward. However, France managed to win in the quarters on the same evening, adding one more playstyle+. This completely changes how the card operates as he now has everything needed to excel as a CDM. Additionally, the card also has 5* Weak Foot – something that I always find very useful. If France wins the Euro 2024, the card will get two more upgrades (potential 5* Skills and +1 overall). You can use this item in the Euro Glory evolution to provide the item with more upgrades across all key stats.

Obtaining the item is really easy – complete the four tasks that are part of the objective set.

Jonathan Clauss Path to Glory

The wingback positions are extremely important in the current EA FC 24 meta, and you require someone good on both offense and defense. Cafu’s GOTG Icon card is awesome, but only a few will have the necessary coins and fodder to get the card. With France proceeding to the semis of Euro 2024, the Jonathan Clauss Path to Glory item suddenly looks amazing to use. Available from the Season 7 reward path, the card was already good to use.

However, it has received Incisive Pass as the fourth playstyle+, which works very well with Whipped Cross+ for wingbacks. With Relentless+ and Anticipate+, the card is robust in defense as well, and you can’t expect anything more from a free item. Don’t forget that there’s more scope for upgrades as long as France keeps winning in the Euro 2024.

Memphis Depay Path to Glory

With the Netherlands progressing to the semis in Euro 2024, the free Memphis Depay PTG item suddenly looks very good. A 97-rated ST item for free is amazing, especially when it offers 5* Skills and 4 playstyle+. Finesse Shot+, Trivela+, and First Touch+ are extremely valuable in the current meta when all teams are trying to press you high.

The Incisive Pass+ is a really useful option if you prefer playing in Tiki-Taka on the field. The 4* Weak Foot is a limitation, but that could disappear if the Netherlands manages to beat England in the semis.

Ferenc Puskas Greats of the Game Icon

This card can be obtained if you reach the final milestone of the Season 7 reward path. While it’s a grind, the reward is worth it. Thanks to Hungary scoring two goals in the Euros, Puskas’s item got upgraded to 98 overall, and has four great playstyle+. Like Memphis, Puskas has Finesse Shot+ and First Touch+. Unlike Memphis, he offers 5* Weak Foot (although he only offers 4* Skills, and that can’t improve).

Puskas’ GOTG Icon version has terrific in-game stats as well, highlighted by his 99 shooting. The 4* Skills might be an issue for some, but you can still use this card in the Elite division.

Toni Kroos End of an Era

The Toni Kroos End of an Era is available at level 34 in the Season 7 rewards. It’s an alternate pick with Gerrard’s GOTG Icon card, but the Kroos item is by far the best free card released in the game. While the 97-rated card can’t get any upgrades in stats, it already has sublime attributes and four incredible playstyle+.

The card is one of the best defensive midfielders you can currently field. When you consider the fact that this Kroos item can be obtained for free, its value goes up even more. Meta playstyles, great stats, and full chemistry with German/LaLiga items – picking Kroos End of an Era is a no-brainer in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team.
