miHoYo is giving Zenless Zone Zero players free Polychrome, but there’s a catch

You must play to earn.

A mere few days after the release of Zenless Zone Zero, the game has already reached a total of 50 million downloads worldwide. Developer miHoYo is understandably ecstatic about this news and is offering players a stack of Polychrome for jumping in. But you’ll need to do something to get it.

To thank every player who’s downloaded Zenless Zone Zero since it was released, miHoYo is offering each and every one of us 1,600 Polychrome. However, it’s not a reward you can get for just downloading the game and launching it once. To get it, you’ve got to play and reach Inter-Knot Level 1, which is the character level in the game before version 1.1 is released.

Don’t miss out on all that free Polychrome

Reaching Inter-Knot Level 1 in Zenless Zone Zero is a piece of cake. All you need to do is follow the main tutorial and missions, and you’ll get there in roughly one hour. Then, once you’ve unlocked the Mail option in the pause menu, you can claim the reward from among any others you’re entitled to.

Polychrome is a fantastic resource in Zenless Zone Zero. It’s used to purchase Master Tapes, which are in turn used to pull for characters from the various banners that come and go from its store. While the exchange rate from Polychrome to Master Tapes isn’t fantastic, you can still get a decent bundle for the reward miHoYo is offering.

This batch of 1,600 Polychrome is just the latest offering from Zenless Zone Zero‘s developer. All sorts of codes and rewards were on offer prior to the game’s launch, and it seems that players are being actively encouraged to take advantage of every code they possibly can to dive deeper into the game and unlock as many Agents and W-Engines for them as possible.

However, while it’s tempting to spend this Polychrome immediately, some of us are going to be holding onto it. New Agents are going to be regularly added to Zenless Zone Zero, expanding the game’s roster and making us want that shiny new character as soon as they drop.

You can unlock quite a few characters just by playing through the game’s story, which is why it’s worth keeping this stack of Polychrome to use on banners to unlock a new character later on. Once version 1.1 drops, we’ll have a new Agent to add to our roster, and I intend to be able to get them on day one.
