How to get the Petit Punutiy minion in FFXIV Dawntrail

Truly a gift to hu-manatee

If there’s one thing that players will go out of their way to get in Final Fantasy XIV, it’s a cute minion to follow them around on their adventures. One of the new minions added in Dawntrail is a tiny version of a vital plot point, and it’s utterly adorable.

The Petit Punutiy minion is a miniature version of the Punutiy which pulls the river boat along en route to rescue Wuk Lamat from her predicament during the Dawntrail story. It hovers along behind you everywhere you go and when you use the pet emote, it will roll onto its algae covered back and show you its belly.

If you’re wanting to get this minion, you need look no further than the first Dawntrail dungeon, Ihuykatumu. At level 91, it’s the easiest of all the MSQ dungeons to complete and the Petit punutiy is a potential drop which can be obtained for your efforts.

Despite the fact that the first boss of this dungeon is the Prime Punutiy, the miniature version doesn’t drop from the coffer which appears after the first boss is defeated. You’ll need to get past this first boss, and also defeat both Drowsie and Apollyon in order to get this minion.

Even when all three bosses have been defeated, there is no guarantee that you will get the Petit Punutiy as a drop. You may have to run this dungeon a fair few times before the minion drops. Luckily, the minion is tradable and is currently among the cheapest of all Dawntrail minions to purchase on the Marketboard, at least in my home world.
