PlayStation Network has gone down, warns Sony

It's not just you

If you’ve suddenly found yourself unable to log into your PlayStation account on PS4 or PS5, don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Sony has put out a notice warning people that the PlayStation Network is experiencing some issues, which are also affecting online games and the PlayStation Store.

According to Sony’s website, the issues began at around 7:46 a.m. PT / 10:46 a.m. ET / 3:46 p.m. BST. So, if you were planning on buying any digital games or enjoying some online multiplayer, you unfortunately have to forgo those plans until Sony’s fixed things.

Not everyone seems to be affected, though. I’ve just been testing it myself and things are working fine on my end. However, there are reports online from those who can confirm the network’s gone down for them. At the time of writing, Sony doesn’t have an ETA for when things will be resolved, only saying it will be done “as soon as possible” and asking PlayStation users be patient.

As for what specifically is being affected, the network issues mean you may not be able to sign into or manage your account, launch certain games, accessing PlayStation Video content, or buy products off the PlayStation Store. Hopefully, you’ve got some offline games that don’t require an internet connection to play while you pass the time. If you decide to go do something else rather than use your PlayStation while the network’s down, it is worth keeping an eye on social media for any notice from Sony or other players about the network coming back online.
