Disney Dreamlight Valley features dozens of fish, ranging from common herring and bass to rare anglerfish and festive creatures. One common fish you can find early on is the rainbow trout, but figuring out where to catch it initially can be challenging.

You can catch rainbow trout in Peaceful Meadow and the Forest of Valor by targeting white fishing bubbles. If you have the Rift in Time expansion, you can also spot this fish in The Oasis within Glittering Dunes. Targeting other bubble colors or changing to different biomes will net you different fish, so stick to these three locations and only target common-rarity spots.

Depending on the biome, you may find bass or perch instead. Don’t worry if this happens; just keep trying, and you’ll eventually find a rainbow trout as long as you keep aiming for the right bubble circles.

Cast out for some trout Star Path duty

During Star Path events, certain tasks ask you to catch a certain number of fish or, more specifically, obtain a particular species. One example is the Majesty and Magnolias event, which asks you to cast out for some trout. Rainbow trout is the fish you need for this task, and you’ll need 10 to satisfy its requirements.

You’ll complete this task once you catch 10 Rainbow Trout, rewarding you with 20 Star Path reward tokens to spend on Moonstones and cosmetics.
