Where is the Oil Rig in Palworld?

Not for the faint of heart or unprepared

One of the new and exciting things added to Palworld with the Sakurajima update was the Oil Rig Stronghold. This high-level raid type area is not only a challenge to navigate once there, but it can also be difficult to find, as it’s a relatively small part of the map.

In order to make your way to the Oil Rig, the quickest route is via the Marsh Island fast travel point, followed by a quick trip south-west.

However, approaching the Oil Rig is not an easy thing to do. I first tried to approach on a flying mount and it did not end well for me, with my mount passed out and me having a very long swim back to shore. Even at a distance, I was attacked with very powerful lasers.

In my following attempts, I found that the best way to get there is by using a swimming mount, such as Azurobe or Jormuntide. I also found it easier to approach while avoiding detection by traveling south from the Eastern Wild Island fast travel point. Although this is a much longer trip, they didn’t seem to notice me approaching from this direction.

Once you’ve made it to the Oil Rig, you’re going to have a battle on your hands. While you can overcome the challenge solo, I’d strongly recommend taking a few friends with you to make the process much easier. The Thugs here are all level 55, and have very strong Pals on their side.

As such, it’s a good idea to only head to the Oil Rig once you’ve unlocked some higher damage weapons, stocked up on ammunition, and have all of your Pals trained up with higher damage attacks via Skill Fruits.
