Destiny 2 Episode Echoes Act I: A Familiar Voice has officially been released. Mercifully, the launch was without too many server woes, but some players might still have a terrible time if they don’t know how to start the new narrative or if they haven’t met the requirements.
As with every new piece of content in Destiny 2, it can be difficult to work out how to start the latest mission or where you need to go. It’s even more challenging to know what you must do to get the new content to trigger. Sometimes, as is the case with Episode Echoes, you must have completed a certain campaign in order to start. That’s why I’ve outlined all the information you need here so you can get into the new story.
How to start Destiny 2 Episode Echoes Act I: A Familiar Voice
To start Destiny 2 Episdoe Echoes Act I, launch Destiny 2, open the Director, head to Nessus, and play the new mission there, Meteoric. This is the start of the new story and will set you on your path to unlock the new three-player activity and make the most of the new content on offer here.
You can check the questline for this Act in the Director by opening the quest log. It should appear in the center of the screen there and show you exactly what you need to do. You’ll have to pay attention to the requirements, though.
To start this mission, you must first thwart The Final Shape. This is The Witness’s plan for The Pale Heart and the universe at large. It’s unclear if this is linked to the Salvation’s Edge completion by a team in the race for world first or if you must have completed the main campaign missions for The Final Shape that ends with Iconoclasm.
For your own sake, I’d recommend completing The Final Shape‘s campaign first because you need to understand the story there to know just how powerful The Witness is and see what the Vanguard has been through.
Echoes is the first Episode of Destiny 2 and our introduction to how the new narrative structure is going to work. Each Episode follows an Echo of Darkness that has made its way to somewhere in the system and interacted with a planet and one of the enemy races we’ve been fighting all this time. In Echoes, that planet is Nessus, and the Vex is the race that’s been altered by whatever piece of Darkness split from The Witness and traveled all that way.
