It’s been a long road for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, but despite rumors of cancellation and years of development (or stagnation) the game will be coming to a Wii near you as the E3 trailer proved. The game looks great, but over the years we’ve heard relatively little about it. With the listed Dec. 31 release date quickly approaching Square Enix has decided to let lose by showing off a bit more gameplay (that will hopefully improve on the series’ seriously flawed mechanics).
The Japanese gameplay video below shows off the many uses of Layle’s magical ability to grab onto things using something like a telekinetic force. It seems to be used for some Bionic Commando style swinging and some Wii Remote point-and-throw action, but more importantly you get to pick up enemies and use their powers for yourself. It’s like Kirby except here you get to see your enemies twist and writhe in agony as you abuse their bodies for your own means. Well, that’s how I want to interpret it.
If you’d like to catch up on everything to do with Crystal Bearers, the official site has a crap ton of gameplay videos showing off everything from fighting to the game’s Okami looking emotion status gameplay that the game is featuring.
