How to complete the Zero Hour Vault Puzzle in Destiny 2 (Week 1)

More panels than even Miles O'Brien could handle.

Destiny 2‘s Zero Hour Exotic mission has more secrets than the Winchester Mystery House. Aside from hidden switches and lethal fire puzzles, there are secret panels and even a vault that needs cracking. It’s a lot, but it is worth the hassle, as completing the Week 1 Vault Puzzle awards additional barrels for Outbreak Perfected and the blueprint for the Vimana Junker ship. Here’s how to crack the code.

Before you get started, I recommend doing this on Normal, as the extra time helps. You’ll also need the Outbreak Perfected pulse rifle to complete the first part of the puzzle. Finally, don’t worry about having to complete the run once you’ve obtained the rewards.

The Courtyard

The first part of the puzzle takes place in the courtyard, near the beginning of the mission. Once you’ve cleared out the enemies, look back at the collapsed catwalk where you came in. Atop it will be a panel with a fragmented SIVA symbol that can be activated.

Once activated, the symbol will turn into a fragment of itself. The object is to find that fragment on one of three panels in the courtyard. Once you’ve found it, shoot it with Outbreak Perfected to get the next piece. Rather than show you the piece itself, the initial panel will show you it layered on top of the first. This makes it a little tricky.

With that and a 40-second timer, I recommend finding the first piece and then doing a trial-and-error of the other two. There’s no penalty for failing as the puzzle will reset and it’s ultimately quicker than running back and forth. Unfortunately, there’s no one solution to this puzzle as it changes with each run.

The Vault

The second part of the puzzle is in the vault just past the fire puzzle. As you enter, there will be a screen on your left that has a map of the room and three columns of shapes and arrows.

The shapes represent the panels in a room, and the arrows tell you which order to press them in. As for the arrows themselves, the black arrows are inside the respective vault, and the red arrows are for the panels outside of it.

Week 1 is the square. If Zero Hour follows a similar pattern to the reprised Whisper of the Worm Exotic mission, then we’ll be completing the diamond and trapezoid in Weeks 2 and 3. As for this week’s solution, activate the panels in the order shown above and below. If you’ve done it correctly, you’ll receive The Corruption Spreads II and the Vimana Junker Schematic.
