Length of time CS2 players have waited for a new Operation will seriously blow your mind

How long must we suffer?

Any Counter-Strike fan will know it’s been a while since we’ve had a new Operation to enjoy, but once you realise how long it’s actually been, you’ll realize that it’s no surprise that some fans are literally begging Valve to release one.

You may remember the last one, which was Operation Riptide. The 11th Counter-Strike Operation featured challenges, stars that could unlock cosmetic rewards, and new modes for players to enjoy. I remember playing a lot of CS:GO around this time, as we all worked our way through the ranks.

Unfortunately, Operation Riptide came to an end on February 21, 2022, and we haven’t seen a new one since. That means it’s been 795 days since it ended, or to put it another way, two years, two months, and five days.

As mentioned by Ozzny on X, formerly Twitter, this is by far the longest we’ve ever waited between Operations, eclipsing the 735-day wait between Hydra and Shattered Web.

Of course, we have seen the release of Counter-Strike 2 during that time, which completely revamped and overhauled the game with updated maps and improved graphics. Still, two years is a long time to wait, and the most frustrating part is that there has been no communication from Valve on the situation.

It’s understandable that CS2 could have delayed these projects, but the team hasn’t mentioned that. In fact, Valve may have cancelled Operations entirely, but radio silence from them means that fans have no idea, and are left in the dark.

If Valve has chosen to scrap Operations, then the fair thing to do would be to come out and confirm it. At least that way fans would stop speculating about them every time there’s a CS2 update.
