How to get and use Hogyoku Fragment in Type Soul

There are many items to farm for in Type Soul, and the Hogyoku Fragment is one of them. In fact, two out of the three factions in Type Soul will require Hogyoku Fragments to evolve at some point. Here is how to get and use Hogyoku Fragments in Type Soul, including a fast new method of accruing them introduced in the latest update.

Fastest way to get Hogyoku Fragments in Type Soul

With the recent update, the fastest way how to get Hogyoku Fragments in Type Soul is by farming the new Boss Raid Game Mode. Head to Karakura Town and visit Kisuke, the NPC sitting on a bench in the middle of town wearing a striped hat. Talk to him and choose the option “I’m ready.” This will place you into a queue to join the new Boss Raid Game Mode.

After about a minute or less, you and the rest of your team—3 players in total—that queued up will be teleported to the Boss Raid Realm where one of three potential bosses will spawn. Here are all three possible Raid Bosses:

• Starkk
• Almighty
• Head Captain of the Gotei 13

Almighty is an extremely easy encounter, and Starkk is relatively straightforward as well. Head Captain of the Gotei 13, however, is pretty difficult and will require a healer to pull off successfully. If you get into a Boss Raid with Head Captain and don’t have a healer, save time and leave and re-queue at Kisuke.

After you defeat whichever boss you randomly encounter, you will receive rare items including Skill Boxes, True Hogyoku, and most importantly, Hogyoku Fragments. If you just keep farming these Boss Raids you will quickly get a ton of Hogyoku Fragments, making this the fastest way to get them in Type Soul at the moment. You can still get Hogyoku Fragments by doing Faction Raids, but it’s much more rare and very inefficient compared to Boss Raids.

How to use Hogyoku Fragments

Hogyoku Fragments are required for several different evolutions in Type Soul. If you’re looking to evolve into a Vizard as a Shinigami, or into Letzt Stil as a Quincy, you will need 10 Hogyoku Fragments to do so. The Hollow evolution, Vastocar, has a separate route for evolving and does not need Hogyoku Fragments.

It is important to note that you can drop Hogyoku Fragments when you die. If you are farming Hogyoku Fragments it’s important you do not die, or at the least store your Hogyoku Fragments in storage so you’re not at risk of losing them.

Once you have 10 Hogyoku Fragments, the next part of your evolution quest will unlock and you can continue towards evolving.
