All playable Project Mugen characters

Every character you can get.

There’s a constant stream of new characters for you to acquire, play as, and master in Project Mugen, but it’s hard to keep track of them all.

As with any game that uses gacha mechanics, Project Mugen has an initial set of characters at launch that will be built upon over time. This means you can try to collect them all, master just a few, or chase only the most powerful characters by pulling from their banners until you end up getting them. However, it’s important to know how many there are and who they all are so you can ensure you’ve got the best, or just all of them, while you play.

Every playable character in Project Mugen

Project Mugen hasn’t been released at the time of this writing. So, this list is based on all the characters we’ve seen in trailers to date. More will be added over time as they’re revealed or announced by developer Naked Rain.

Taffy

Taffy is a pretty laid back character and probably one of the characters we’ve seen the most of in promotional material for Project Mugen so far. She’s the one who can be seen aligning between skyscrapers or riding her bike, which just so happens to transform into a massive hammer for her to wield. It’s possible that she might use energy drinks to buff her powers, but that could just be a quirk of her animations.

Bansy

Bansy is another one of the main Project Mugen characters we’ve seen in promotional material. She, too, can be seen traversing a giant open world, but the thing that sets her apart for me is her weapon. She has a firearm that shoots a spray of some sort of liquid, as well as grenades. I’d say she’s a damage dealer and will probably be able to decimate anyone in a fight.

Alan

Alan is a pretty interesting character we’ve not seen too much of in videos for Project Mugen. What we have seen briefly shows him launch a yo-yo-like tool around to batter his foes and move with impressive agility through and around any obstacles. I’d say he’d fit a classic thief class quite well, but he’ll more than likely have some debuff abilities with the way his weapon works.

Mechanika

I’ve not seen Mechanika in action, so I couldn’t tell you what her role in Project Mugen is. Based on her name and the yellow in her outfit above, I think it’s reasonable to expect her to be a mechanic or tinkerer of some kind. She has a robot buddy who follows her around and helps her out, so it would make sense if the robot filled in for most of the tools in a pinch.

Dila

Dila is a mysterious character in Project Mugen who keeps to herself and uses an absolutely massive sword in combat. I’ve seen almost nothing of her, but the stars in her sword and how similar they are to those seen in a big enemy in one of the game’s trailers indicates to me that she’s able to control some serious power.

Player Character: Male

The player character in Project Mugen is pretty much just a husk for you to put your own spin on. I don’t know if we’ll get to customize their appearance and outfit, but based on other games in this genre, I really hope we do. This is the main protagonist you’ll be controlling for most of your time with the game, though you’ll be able to jump into the shoes of the other characters on this list as you acquire them.

Player Character: Female

The female player character will be pretty much exactly like the male one in terms of being your window into the world of Project Mugen. Of course, gender will have no bearing on ability or power, so you can pick whichever you want.
