Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 performance, FPS, and specs

Let's dive into the game's PS5 specs.

With the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, many have made comparisons regarding gameplay and visuals across its compatible devices. More specifically, some wonder about the game’s PS5 performance and FPS rate, and we’re here to show you what to expect.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 resolution and frame rate, explained

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s resolution stands at 3840 x 2160, and it cannot be tweaked due to the limited console graphic settings. However, despite restrictions on this version, the PS5 image quality is pretty sharp and detailed, especially regarding lightning and environmental textures. Maybe there are some blurry visuals here and there when entering big cities or character-filled fights. Nevertheless, it’s not too much of a concern based on my own experience.

In an interview with Reno Gazette Journal and USA Today Network, game director Hideaki Itsuno indicated that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has an “uncapped frame rate performance around 30 FPS or above.” The game generally runs around 30 to 45 FPS, but it almost rarely hits the 60 range. Yet, once again, those highly populated areas can drop it down to the 20s.

I never really had any trouble with frame rates, as the game mostly runs smoothly throughout its open world. I will only say that whenever several other NPCs (apart from Pawns) join a battle, the performance can be a tad choppy.

Is there a performance mode in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Since console versions feature fewer graphic setting options, Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not have a performance mode. If you look at the Display specs, two selections are available: HDR Mode and Brightness. Not much else can be tweaked outside of that graphics-wise, which differs from PC.

The Camera settings provide the most options with adjustments for aiming, tracking, and distances. Additionally, common specs like motion blur and sliders are inaccessible for PS5 players. Dragon’s Dogma 2’s PC version is the only one with these specific specs if you are looking for something more customizable.
