Digital Extremes has finally announced the exact release date for Warframe‘s next major content update, Dante Unbound. It is now due to launch late in March, and everything points to it being fairly sizeable in most respects, its most interesting feature being the all-new Dante Warframe.
Little is known about Dante so far, other than the fact that it is the mysterious grimoire-wielding biomech that used to be responsible for the Leverian museum. The 56th official Warframe was, thus, the personal assistant and chronicler of Drusus Leverian, giving the creature a unique position in the game’s admittedly wild and erratic lore. With just a few months having gone by after Warframe‘s previous big content update, Whispers in the Walls, fans are poised to get a solid gameplay upgrade, from the looks of it.
Warframe: Dante Unbound is coming on March 27
Warframe‘s Dante Unbound update is coming out on March 27, and aside from the Dante Warframe itself, there’s a wealth of other goodies to consider as well.
Firstly, players will get to jump into an all-new variant of the Disruption mission, available via the Deimos, Armatus mission node. This mission will task players with sourcing Docket items and installing them into the appropriate Conduits, all the while fighting off Necramech enemies.
The arguably more exciting bit comes via the Deep Archimedea missions: a novel weekly challenge that will fill a niche similar to the Sorties, albeit more hardcore. Whereas players can change their gear between each Sortie mission, Deep Archimedea necessitates a universal loadout for all three of its difficult missions, as players don’t get the chance to get back into their Orbiter until they’ve completed them. It’s a very promising change of pace that has the potential to kick even veteran players into high gear, though its balancing certainly remains to be seen in action.
No less important is the long-anticipated rework of the Inaros Warframe, giving the fans of the super-survivalist biomech a new gameplay loop that should remain true to Inaros’s core fantasy, all the while rebalancing its kit and bringing it up-to-par with the game’s latest content.
Finally, there’s the wealth of new cosmetics to choose from, highlights including the Styanax Tonatiuh Collection and the suite of community-sourced TennoGen items, though neither of these constitutes a meaningful gameplay addition to Warframe, as should be expected.
Players that have Warframe: 1999 in their sights are unlikely to be overly excited with the comparatively tame Dante Unbound update, of course. The potential remake of the Dark Sector narrative in the mutated timeline of Warframe proper could turn the game up on its head if executed correctly, though we don’t know yet when it might be coming out. A new Warframe should be able to keep us busy for some of the time interim, at least!
