Some people would say that Arsox, the fire goat with a penchant for headbutting trees, doesn’t offer much benefit when put into your team. I think these people are wrong, because there’s one very good reason to keep Arsox with you at all times.
Where to find Arsox in the wild
Arsox is a pretty common spawn in the areas circled above. Thankfully, it’s a pretty low level Pal, so you can easily capture it very early into your adventures on Palpagos using a basic Pal Sphere.
How to breed Arsox
There are a lot of potential breeding pairs which could result in an Arsox, but here’s a few of the easier ones:
- Galeclaw + Surfent
- Direhowl + Grintale
- Univolt + Melpaca
- Foxparks + Helzephyr
- Pyrin + Daedream
Why Arsox is worth it
Arsox possesses a singularly useful Partner Skill — Warm Body.
Warm Body prevents a player from being affected by the cold while accompanied by Arsox or using it as a mount. Admittedly, it’s not the fastest mount in the game with a speed stat of 800, but if you’re heading into the Astral Mountains or on a nighttime adventure in the Desiccated Desert, Arsox negates most need for you to take Cold Resistant Armor.
Not only does this leave you with extra inventory space, but it also means you’re carrying less weight. This is especially useful early into the game, before you’ve been able to throw all of your stat upgrades towards your maximum weight.
Even if you’re higher level and have all of the Cold Resistant Armor unlocked and crafted, traversing the Astral Mountains at night is particularly difficult and you’re left needing to double up with a secondary heat source. Unless you want to carry a Hand-held Torch with you, Arsox is your best bet.
In order to use Arsox as a mount, you’ll have to unlock the Arsox Saddle at level 16 via the Technology Ladder and then craft it using a Pal Workbench.
