How to travel between Hawaii and Japan in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Swap between your stories.

The latest RPG from RGG Studio takes places across a massive expanse of land, even across the ocean. As such, you might want to know when you can jump between Hawaii and the Japan locations in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

The short answer is that before you beat the game, your location will be dictated by the story. When you’re in an Ichiban chapter, you’ll be wherever Ichiban is; and as Kiryu, you’ll be where Kiryu is. There’s no real way to hop between Hawaii and Japan as those characters until you’ve rolled credits.

Premium Adventure lets you hop between locations freely

To unlock the ability to move between Hawaii and Japan freely, you’ll need to beat Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and unlock its Premium Adventure mode. From there, you’ll get the opportunity to easily move between the zones. Simply head to Resolve in Hawaii, or Survive in Japan.

Head upstairs to each bar’s respective hideaway, and you’ll be able to freely switch over. For Ichiban, this sends you to Survive and puts Kiryu in the lead. For Kiryu, the reverse happens.

Simple enough! This lets you freely move between the zones, so even if you’re in Honolulu, you’re never too far away from Ijincho and Kamurocho. The swap doesn’t cost any cash, either.

There is one slight catch, though

You might have noticed that in each situation, you’re not just changing locales, but swapping protagonists. As far as I can tell, you can only have Kiryu be leader in Ijincho and Kamurocho, and only have Ichiban be leader in Hawaii.

While you can still have anyone in your party at any time in either location, including Ichiban or Kiryu, one of the two must always lead, and they will always lead in their respective regions. This essentially means either Kiryu or Ichiban will always be in your party. A slight wrinkle, but considering both characters are pretty strong, not a deal-breaker for all the free air travel between Hawaii and Japan in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
