In Palworld, you get an experience bonus for catching up to ten of each Pal. Honestly, catching duplicate Pals is a great way to quickly increase your Player Level. Unfortunately, you can only store so many Pals, and even still it’s unnecessary to have a ton of Chikipi’s in storage if you’re not doing anything with them. Knowing how to release Pals in Palworld is very useful in alleviating this problem. However, a bigger benefit is utilizing the Pal Merchant to sell unwanted Pals and make some Gold.
The best way to get rid of Pals in Palworld
Even though you can simply release your Pals, there is another option you may want to consider first. Early in your Palworld adventure, you will discover a place simply called Small Settlement just west of your starting location. This ramshackle desert outpost has a Level 30 guard in it that tells you they’ve been experiencing some tough times.
However, if you look inside some of the buildings in the area, you will find various NPCs and even merchants. One such merchant is the Pal Merchant. If you look at the map above, the settlement circled in red is the location you need to look for. This NPC grants you an alternative to simply releasing your Pals, which essentially just drops them on the ground never to be seen again.
You can actually sell your extra Pals at the Pal Merchant, which will earn you some Gold to buy other things from other merchants. Also, the Pal Merchant is able to sell you a handful of Pals as well, which can be a great way to grab some Pals you haven’t been able to catch yet.
How to release Pals
If for some reason you’re in a hurry and don’t want to sell your Pals for Gold, and just want to release them, you can. Doing so will simply discard them, and you won’t get anything for this Pals.
To do so, open your Party window and go to the Pal you want to release. Then simply hit the R key to release them. It will literally drop them in their Sphere on the ground, and they will then be gone.
Interestingly, it appears that the most recent Pals that you released can for some reason be bought back from the Pal Merchant at a hefty price. I suppose it at least provides an option of recovering released Pals in case you accidentally do so or change your mind.
Hopefully even though you now know how to release Pals in Palworld, you’ll consider visiting the Pal Merchant instead. It seems like a better move all around.
