There are two ways to fill out the map in the game, with one being the most obvious. But you don’t gain access to your map right off the bat. No, you first need to get an item from the mysterious girl, Fariba, after she takes you through the Wak-Wak Tree tutorial in the ‘Lower City’ area (before she goes over Memory Shards). She hands Sargon an item called the ‘Eye of the Wanderer’, which gives you the ability to view the map of Mount Qaf. But how do we fill it out?

Two ways to unlock the map in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

As mentioned, there is more than one way to fill out the map. The first way is your classic “no shit” option of actually exploring the world and slowly revealing the map over time. With every corridor or room you enter, you unlock more of the map. But this method only reveals the places you’ve visited already. There is a way to view areas of the map, but it takes a bit of exploration and monetary persuasion.

To unlock more of the map in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you need to purchase the maps of each area from Fariba. You’ll find her hiding around each area, calling out to Sargon as he approaches. For a mere 50 Time Crystals, Fariba will sell you a map revealing the area you’re currently exploring. The first time you can run across her is in the ‘Hyrcanian Forest’ area. She’s in a small room near the center of the forest:

Choose the option to purchase a map and Fariba will ask for your Eye of the Wanderer. Once it’s returned, you’ll be able to see a map of the whole area. The dimmer parts are, naturally, places you have yet to explore.

As a bonus, here’s where you can find Fariba to get the map of the Lower City area:

Keep exploring every inch of the game world to discover Fariba’s hiding spots. When you run into her, be sure to purchase a map straight away. Knowing what could be in the next room is premium currency in Metroidvania games, and certainly worth the price.
