We see you, Halo. Season 2 of Paramount Plus’ video game adaptation received its official trailer today and looks, dare I say, promising.
Earlier in December, Halo season 2 got a small teaser, which uses some of the shots in the trailer. Alongside the reveal was its release date, February 8th, and a YouTube release of the first season.
According to the YouTube description, in Halo season 2, “Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. As humanityās best hope for winning the war, John-117 discovers his deep connection to a mysterious alien structure that holds the key to humankindās salvation, or its destruction ā the Halo.”
Hello Halo, it’s good to see you again
The trailer shows a lot of action, which was a hit with original audiences. Personally, it does look more like an adaptation of the games than the first season, which I briefly watched. I did spy someone using dual pistols, a famous game mechanic introduced in Halo 2. Of course, we do see Energy Swords, a boat-ton of them, in one shot. There are some promising shots in the trailer, which gets me kind of excited to see this new season.
DespiteĀ HaloĀ receivingĀ mixed reviews, theĀ viewership was record-breaking for Paramount Plus, easily prompting a season two renewal. Controversially, the showās first episode had Master Chief take his helmet off (andĀ he takes off more than just that). He still looks to have his helmet off this time, but it’s not as bothersome as before, personally.
Halo stars Pablo Schreiber (Narcos) as Master Chief/John-117 and Jen Taylor (Halo: Combat Evolved) as Cortana, whom we got to speak to before the first season’s release. The supporting cast boasts the likes of Charlie Murphy (Happy Valley), Natascha McElhone (The Truman Show), and Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming), just to name a few. So, if you have time to kill, you can watch all the episodes free of charge via this playlist and finish the fight before February 8.
