When is the Destiny 2 weekly reset? Time and day, explained

When is new content added and existing stuff rotated around?

Many Destiny 2 players eagerly await each weekly reset that comes throughout the seasons. In Season of the Wish, that has meant new Starcats, narrative missions, and even a few surprises. Weekly resets are the harbinger of change, marking the day and time players can expect the latest content to arrive in-game. But some may wonder precisely when these resets happen and what they entail.

Because Destiny 2 is a live service game, Bungie never ceases adding content. Rather than sporadically drop content throughout an expansion or season, Bungie opts for a weekly delivery method. These weekly resets deliver new story beats and activities for most of the season. Then, later on, they ensure activities and vendors continue to alternate their offerings or rotate events in and out of the game. Knowing when reset is can help players better plan their time, assuming everything goes to plan.

When is Destiny 2’s weekly reset?

The weekly reset forĀ Destiny 2Ā reliably happens every Tuesday. However, it’s tougher to definitively say when players can reenter the game and explore new content.Ā Bungie officially notesĀ that the reset happens at Noon ET (9 AM PT). However, as longtime players likely already know, maintenance often gets in the way.

Typically, a weekly resetĀ comes with some form of maintenanceĀ that takes the game offline. While Bungie tries to get the game back online by reset time, sometimes the maintenance periodĀ extends beyondĀ that. In other worse scenarios, Bungie has repeatedlyĀ extended the maintenance periodĀ hours after the reset hit. With that in mind, players can generally expect to be able to access the game around Noon or 1 PM ET (9 AM or 10 AM PT).

That said, Bungie seems to have taken the tides of player feedback and has been improving the brevity of any maintenance accompanying weekly resets. Bungie performed a brief maintenance the day before for the most recent weekly reset as of this writing. The result meant the reset rolled out seamlessly, not even booting players in the process.
