Complete guide to FFXIV Heavensturn 2024

Happy new year, fellow Warrior's of Light!

As always happens in Final Fantasy XIV at the turn of the new year, Eorzea is playing host to the Far Eastern delegation from Hingashi. This year, they come with stories of the Dragon-esque Ryu. Here’s your guide to this year’s Heavensturn events.

To pick up the first quest in this year’s Heavensturn event, head to Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks and seek out Ryu Metsuke (X11.5 Y13.9). He’ll give you a quest titled “To Be a Mascot” and send you to find a fellow member of the Far Eastern Delegate.

Find Ryu Bugyo (X11.5 Y13.3) and talk to her. During the following cutscene, you’ll meet a young girl who is struggling to understand what exactly a Ryu is and, try as she might, Ryu Bygyo is having a hard time explaining why the Chocobo Chick is dressed as a Dragon. As the girl leaves confused, Ryunosuke will follow her.

After the cutscene, head into the Drowning Wench and find Ryu Bugyo (X11.3 Y11.5) once more. She’ll send you off to gather information to help find out where the pair have gone. Here are the three NPCs that you’ll need to talk to, along with their locations:

  • Ahldskyf (X10.0 Y11.1)
  • Amicable Alleygoer (X8.2 Y11.9)
  • Personable Peddler (X8.5 Y11.5)

While talking to these NPCs, you’ll discover that the girl’s name is Sibly, and she is the daughter of a sailor. She is worried about her father’s sea travels and heading to the Agelyss River.

Head back to Bulwark Hall and talk to Ryu Bugyo (X11.5 Y11.3). She has figured out that the people of Eorzea are unfamiliar with the Ryu, which explains why they are confused by her attempts to explain the significance of Ryunosuke’s costume.

Travel to Summerford Farms and find Sibly (X20.0 Y18.0). This will trigger a cutscene and complete “To Be a Mascot”.

Head to Woad Whisper Canyon (directly north of where the last quest finished) and speak to Ryu Bugyo (X20.1 Y13.5). During the cutscene, she reassures Sibly that she can pray to Seiryu, one of the Ryu from the Far East and a familiar character to many, in order to keep her father safe during his sailing.

One particularly nice moment during this cutscene is a chance for players to respond, with choices that reflect whether you have completed the Four Lords side content from Stormblood

Once you have completed the cutscene, head back to Limsa Lominsa and speak to Ryu Bugyo (X11.4 Y13.6) in the Upper Decks. Once you’ve done this, she and Ryunosuke will accompany you while you talk to three NPCs on the Upper Decks:

  • Ale-Sipping Sailor (X11.1 Y11.1)
  • Idle Yellowjacket (X11.2 Y7.3)
  • Resolute Resident (X9.6 Y8.2)

Return to the Aftcastle and speak to Ryu Metsuke (X11.5 Y13.9). This will complete the second quest in this year’s Heavensturn event and reward you with the Ryunosuke minion.

New fortunes from the Omikujishi

In a returning feature that was introduced during Heavensturn 2023, you can pick up an Omikuji (fortune) from the Omikujishi (X11.7 Y14.2) on the Upper Decks. You can receive as many as you like, though it costs 100 gil per time.

These fortunes range from Grave Misfortune to Great Fortune. They are each split into five sub-categories:

  • Adventure
  • Relationships
  • Prosperity
  • Conflict
  • Favor

After completing the main quest of Heavensturn, you will be told that there are twelve new fortunes added for this year’s event and prompted to “keep a watchful eye on the ‘Adventure’ section of Omikuji and discover what new journeys might be in wait for you”.

With patch 6.55 just around the corner and the release of Dawntrail fast approaching, there may be some hints included about what we can expect in the next few months.
