You can watch most of FFXIV’s last Dawntrail event for free, though access to the musical event on both days requires a ~$25 digital ticket. The event streams live from the MMO’s official channels on:

Will Fan Fest be translated?

Typically, Japan’s FFXIV Fan Fest features English language translations for the Keynote Speech and the Live Letter — where most Dawntrail-related announcements will happen.

However, there’s also community-driven resources for these streams, and sometimes other panels. The FFXIV subreddit’s Discord offers live translations and helpful recaps of events like Fan Fest, along with other streams should you wish to tune in later.

How to watch paid streaming events

There are two paid streaming events at Tokyo Fan Festival, one each evening. “Special Live – Piano” is scheduled for January 6 (PST) and “Special Live – Band”, a live performance by The Primals, takes place on January 7 to wrap up the Fan Festival. You can watch these streams by purchasing tickets via StreamPass or FanStream, on sale now until February 5, 2024 (PST).

These concerts feature performances by beloved figures like Masayoshi Soken, FFXIV’s Lead Composer and Sound Director. It was during one of the previous events when we were gifted with Soken’s now infamous performance of La Hee.

How to re-watch footage and clips

As with previous Final Fantasy Fan Festivals, the full stream and clips of it will be available to watch long after the events are over. These will be available on Final Fantasy XIV’s YouTube channel. Trailers are usually available soon after they are shown on stream, translated into local languages.

What to expect

As with the previous Fan Festival events of 2023, FanFest: Tokyo will provide more information about the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. This likely includes the reveal of the second Job coming in Version 7.0. They were teased via Yoshi P’s t-shirt choice in Las Vegas, and in London, and Viper was revealed to be the first of these two new Jobs.

We’ll also get more information about the graphical update that will accompany the release of Dawntrail, behind the scene stories from developers and even a quiz for those watching via streaming services. We’ll get to meet some of the voice actors and look back on some of their most memorable scenes, and there will even be a real-life, Eorzea inspired fashion show to watch on the second day.
