Diablo 4 Nights Grasp effect explained

An interesting Aspect appears

With the new Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event underway, several new things have been added to the ARPG. One of the more interesting additions is the Shard of the Dawn Legendary Aspect. This Offensive Legendary Aspects brings with it a new effect called Nights Grasp. Here is the new Diablo 4 Nights Grasp effect explained in detail.

What is Nights Grasp?

At its core, Nights Grasp is a new status effect that is gained when using the new Shard of the Dawn Offensive Legendary Aspect. To better understand how the effect works, let’s look at the full effect of the Legendary Aspect:

  • Shard of the Dawn — After 30 seconds of Night’s Grasp, gain Dawn’s Haste, increasing your Attack Speed by [25-35]% and Movement Speed by 20% for 12 seconds. While empowered by the Midwinter Ward, killing an enemy reduces Night’s Grasp duration by 1 second.

So basically with this Legendary Aspect, you will have a period of time that Nights Grasp ramps up before converting to the Dawn’s Haste buff. This ramp-up time will be 30 seconds by default. However, killing an enemy reduces that duration by 1 second while you have the Midwinter Ward effect. As you can see, you can quickly ramp up and reduce the time between gaining the Dawn’s Haste buff leading to some pretty interesting building possibilities.

How do you get the Midwinter Ward effect?

As you can see, you will need the Midwinter Ward effect in order to reduce the charge-up of Nights Grasp. Thankfully getting Midwinter Ward is very easy.

To obtain the Midwinter Ward buff, simply visit Koyvashad and activate the totem. This will grant you the buff so that you can begin to decrease the Nights Grasp duration by killing enemies.

Hopefully having the Diablo 4 Nights Grasp effect explained will help you determine if this Legendary Aspect is something you want to bother with during the event. I think it’s a cool idea but won’t bother creating a new build around it since the event is limited.
