How to conduct a train heist in Fortnite

I would say that robbing a train in Fortnite is an easy task, but I get the feeling it was only easy for me because I waited until there were less than 30 players remaining and the storm was encroaching. If you decide to do this earlier, you run the risk of other players having the same idea as you, while if you follow in my footsteps you run the risk of the train going head-first into the storm. It’s up to you.

In any case, pick a location to board the train. I chose Reckless Railways because it only makes sense to board a train at the train station, but really you can pick whichever area you want — you can even track the train via your map, so if you’d like to arrive early and wait for it to pass by, you can do that as well.

Navigate to the front of the train and loot the two caches on either side of the engine car to nab some valuable goodies, then turn your attention to the conspicuously large crate nearby. If you have any other players tailing you, now would be an excellent time to pick them off, because opening this crate will take around 45 to 50 seconds in real time.

In that time, you cannot defend yourself, so you’ll need to ensure you either have some friends to keep enemies at bay, or be like me and wait until the only enemies remaining have more important things to do than rob a train. To be fully transparent, if you decide to follow in my footsteps, be sure the train isn’t going to take you so far into the storm that it’s literally impossible to get out without dying.

In any case, if you can survive long enough to unpack the train of its valuables and escape, you’ll have pulled off a train heist in Fortnite! I sure hope it was worth the time and ammunition!
