There’s nothing worse than wanting to jump into Azeroth, only be to hit with the unfortunate message: No Realms are Currently Available. Other than planned weekly maintenance, all the World of Warcraft servers typically have pretty good uptime. However, that’s not always the case. So are WoW servers down at the moment?
Current WoW Server Status
UPDATE: As of 3 p.m. ET it looks like the WoW servers are coming back online across all versions of World of Warcraft including retail, Classic, WOTLK, and Season of Discovery.
As of 2 p.m. ET on December 4, the WoW servers are down. According to Blizzard, there is an issue affecting the authentication servers for World of Warcraft. The server status indicates there is scheduled maintenance planned for December 5 at 10 p.m. ET that is expected to last for one hour, but this downtime does not appear to be related to it.
Usually, Blizzard is pretty quick at fixing these sorts of issues, so hopefully the servers come back online soon. However, as of now, Blizzard has not publically commented on the downtime, which further points towards it being an unexpected issue.
The @BlizzardCS Twitter usually does a good job of updating server status timelines when this happens. I’d imagine servers should be working again soon and will update here when they are.
Which versions of World of Warcraft are affected?
It appears that server downtime is affecting all versions of WoW at the moment. Retail, World of Warcraft Classic, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and World of Warcraft Season of Discovery are all down. It’s likely this means it has something to do with the actual login and authentication servers. It’s also possible Blizzard has to bring all the realms down to fix the underlying authentication server issue, which may be what they are doing.
Either way, once resolved, realms for all versions of WoW should come back online. Even though the WoW Servers are down, it shouldn’t be long before they return!
