There is strength in numbers, especially when you’re stuck on a moon covered in things that want to eat you. Well, sometimes. Having a larger team may help you survive in Lethal Company, but how many players can join you in co-op?
Lethal Company only allows up to four players to team up in co-op for online or sessions over LAN. You can play the game solo and brave the darkness or have just one or two others by your side. For many, however, having four people in a game seems necessary to get as much scrap as possible and leave quickly. That seems like enough for the tiny ship that carries you to and from safety, but one can wish for more.
How to increase the multiplayer limit in Lethal Company using the MoreCompany mod
There is no in-game option to create a Lethal Company lobby with more player slots than four, but there is a certain mod that can help. MoreCompany is a mod that’s ideal for folks who want to up the player count to eight. In reality, though, the mod can increase it to 32. The mod creator, notnotnotwipez, does warn that adding more than eight will cause some stability issues.
You can get the mod over at the Thunderstore website. The instructions say that every player on your team needs the mod installed, which requires something called ‘BepinEx’. Once downloaded, you need to drop ‘BepInEx/plugins/MoreCompany.dll’ into the ‘BepInEx/plugins’ folder, and you’re good to go. There’s no mention in the mod’s instructions on whether it can be used online or if it’s LAN only, but it seems like the former is allowed for now. Keep in mind that Lethal Company is in Early Access and things are likely to change, especially when it comes to using mods in online games.
