Starfield: a spaceship hovering above New Atlantis.

You can now remotely control your ship in Starfield thanks to this mod

To quote Bender when he takes a photo: "neat."

One of the major draws of Starfield is the ability to pilot your own spaceship. However, the downside to this is having to trek all the way back to where you parked your ship before you can fly it. Fortunately, someone has solved this little problem.

Say hello to “Summoning of Ship,” a mod for Starfield made by user wSkeever that allows you to call your vessel to your position without being near it. With a remote control added to your inventory, you can command your spaceship to take off into orbit and tell it to land.

The above video shows it in action. While the spaceship can be called remotely, you’ll need to make sure you’re near some flat ground. Additionally, you can set it to land on an empty landing pad when you’re in a city that has one.

So many mods, so little time

Even before Starfield came out, people were creating and releasing their own custom mods for the game. Everything from making Earth habitable again to adding in the Daleks from Doctor Who have come out the woodwork.

Bethesda’s newest IP has a lot going for it by itself, but the vanilla experience can only take you so far. The modding community can not only bring new elements that the original studio didn’t implement, but also make the game better in general.

That said, Bethesda is seeing to it that Starfield remains in good shape too. For instance, it was recently announced that the game will be getting DLSS support this week. So that’s something to look forward to if you’re running an Nvidia graphics card.
