Everyone who dies in MW3ā€™s Campaign, explained

Note: Beware there are full spoilers ahead for the fates of various characters in MW3ā€™s campaign.

What players should keep in mind is that MW3 is, by and large, a remake of the original Modern Warfare 3 from 2011. It takes some of the most iconic moments, twists, and even character deaths from that game, and brings it into the modern era of Call of Duty. As such, if you played that original title, you likely already know who some of the deaths are.

The first couple of major deaths comes within the first few missions of the game. For instance, in one of the first missions in the campaign, the main villain Makarovā€™s former leader Ivan dies. This is followed soon after by an early mission with Farah in which her close friend Dena passes away and crashes her vehicle.

After that, the campaign mostly continues without too much bloodshed on the main character side, outside of the faceless enemies and civilians (yes, you read that last part right). There is this gameā€™s version of the infamous ā€œNo Russianā€ called ā€œPassengersā€ where you eliminate a plane of innocent people in a horrifying and ridiculously awful fashion.

The final major character deaths come in the final mission of the game ā€œTrojan Horse.ā€ During this mission, John ā€˜Soapā€™ MacTavish perishes when fighting the main villain. Following the end of the game, a mid-credits scene shows Captain Price also eliminate Herschel Shepherd for his traitorous acts. Other than that, though, there arenā€™t too many main character deaths.

What happens to Makarov next?

Perhaps the most notable person to not die in the MW3 campaign, outside of the likes of Captain Price and Ghost, is Makarov. The main villain of the past couple of games is still alive and kicking at the end of this title. This could indicate a couple of possibilities for him. There is a chance we finally get a Modern Warfare 4, which has never happened in two trilogies now.

On the other hand, there is a chance we could see some campaign or Warzone story DLC in the future. This could add some missions or levels to finish off Makarovā€™s story once and for all. For now, we will have to wait and see.
