Longtime fans of Super Mario RPG know that Rose Town hides many valuable secrets to uncover. To keep light on spoilers, let’s just say you’ll want to return here later in your adventure. But, in the meantime, how about those hidden treasure chests?
On your first run through, there are two secret treasure chests that the Signal Ring will alert you about. These aren’t quite as difficult to find as other hidden treasures, but they still require a bit of random jumping around to uncover. Here’s where you need to look.

#1: In the Item Shop
If you look at the shelves at the back end of Rose Town’s item shop, you’ll notice a crate strategically placed as if to encourage you to jump on top of the furniture. Run towards the corner of the item shop and jump straight up to reveal a secret Frog Coin
On another note, while not a hidden treasure, there is another chest you can grab in the item shop too. To get to it, jump on the crates outside the item shop and drop down the chimney.
This will position you just right to get this optional treasure chest.
#2: In the house with the button
When you first get to Rose Town, you’ll see a house in the top corner of the map that is seemingly impossible to get to. Apparently there’s a button inside the house that makes a staircase appear, but that’s not active. Fortunately, you can jump on the Toad’s head near the house to get inside.
You’ll see a few chests inside here (those might belong to someone!), but the secret chest is upstairs. Jump on the bed and, surprise, the secret chest will reveal itself. Make sure to be honest with the Toad when he returns to his house after you hit the button!
