What is the combination for the Rock Rock Tree Stash in Alan Wake 2

Does tree technically beat rock?

Getting some extra goodies makes surviving the horrors of Bright Falls a bit easier. And littered throughout the world of Alan Wake 2 are stashes that have their own puzzles to unlock, ranging from eloquent riddles to, uh, the Rock Rock Tree stash.

Stashes hold useful items, so it’s important to make sure you open them. And yes, sometimes that means engaging with the silly combinations of some cultists. Here’s how to open the Rock Rock Tree Stash in Alan Wake 2.

Finding the stash location

You can find this specific stash and its strange puzzle in the northwestern part of Cauldron Lake, just southeast of the Private Cabin near Streamside. You can access this section after entering the Overlap and dealing with Nightingale.

If you approach the stash first, you’ll receive the hint for the lockbox: Rock Rock Tree. It might seem confusing if you don’t have your flashlight on. Several stashes in Cauldron Lake have their puzzle solutions light up when you shine a flashlight on them, so start waving that torch around.

Walk around the area with your flashlight out, and you’ll start to see symbols on different areas. Be careful: Taken enemies also spawn here, and I had to fight them twice while I was exploring.

The one can be found in the river, on the side of a rock, saying “7-2”, or 5.

The second you’ll find on a tree leading up to the stash, with a “6+2” or 8.

Lastly, just to the right of three, you’ll find “3+3” emblazoned on a rock, signaling 6.

Head back to the stash and it’s time to enter the combo.

The solution is 658. You might also have tried 568, and I’m not sure why one works but the other doesn’t. Thankfully, we get multiple tries.

Open up the stash and you’ll get a note, as well as a Hand Flare, a First Aid Kit, and a Propane Tank. All very handy, and limited, items to have for difficult encounters in Alan Wake 2.
