I’m fine admitting that I lack the kind of dazzling imagination needed to design impressive ships in Starfield. But what about purchasing one? If you need to upgrade in Starfield, I recommend hitting up Neon and asking about the Class C spaceship, The Narwhal.
Starfield has many ships you can purchase or acquire for free. In fact, some of the game’s best ships come at the end of a quest ā with no money down! But if you’re looking for an option that’s both powerful and themed after an ocean mammal, you might be a little odd. Or, you may want to jet on over to Neon Core on Volii Alpha and hit up Ryujin Industries. Little do some know, but the shadowy business deals in more than corporate espionage.
Neon is home to the Narwhal Class C spaceship in Starfield
To find the Narwhal, travel to Neon and head directly to the Ryujin tower. Take the elevator at the back of the lobby to Taiyo Astroneering. Once you make it to the floor, go down the nearby staircase to speak with Veronica. She represents Taiyo, a spaceship parts manufacturer in Starfield much like HopeTech or Nova Galactic. Taiyo has a robust list of ships to purchase, many of which are themed after the ocean such as the Hammerhead or the Reef. But we want the final ship on the list, the Narwhal.
The Narwhal is a Class C spaceship, which means you need to have the Piloting Skill maxed out to use it in Starfield. It comes at a hefty price of 423,946 credits, but it’s worth it as a mid-game ship for many reasons. For one, as a Class C ship, it boasts a powerful reactor capable of supporting some of the best weapons and modules. It can carry up to seven crew members and has a decent cargo capacity. But most of all, it looks so damn cute.

The Narwhal has several useful habitat modules as well. It includes a Control Station, a Science Lab, a Captain’s Quarters, a Workshop, and an All-in-One Berth. Overall, the Narwhal Class C spaceship is a fantastic option for those who need something mid-range to finish out their first run of Starfield. Keep in mind that you will need to level up your Ship Command Skill to max out your crew.
If you’re low on funds I’d recommend checking out the Crimson Fleet questline. No matter what path you choose in the end, it still rewards you with a cool 250,000 credits.
