Sony has been weathering calls to lower the PlayStation 3’s price for quite some time now, and you can imagine that constant queries about something Sony won’t change must take a toll on one’s patience. Senior vice president of marketing, Peter Dille, for example, sounds like he’s going to scream if somebody asks him just one more time.

“Everybody in the development community would love for the PS3 to be free,” he sighs, “so they could just sell razor blades.”

That’s all very well and good, Mr. Dille, but what I want to know is this — when will Sony lower the PS3 price!?

Seriously, I think publishers, developers and gamers are wasting their time when they talk about a price drop. When Sony thinks it’s right, not even God can tell it what to do, and no amount of pressure will change that. When we do see a price drop, it’ll be on Sony’s terms, when Sony is ready, and no amount of analyst talk will alter the course.

Sony will just have to get used to all the speculation and demands in the meantime.
