In The Elder Scrolls terms, the Ryujin Industries is sort of like the Thieves and Assassin’s Guilds rolled into one. You’re sent off on missions to steal away with company secrets or sabotage Ryujin’s competitors. It’s all in a day’s work for a corporate lackey. During the Ryujin questline, you’re tasked with stealing a Security Keycard for Imogene Salzo. The Access is Key quest can be easy to complete, and I can guide you through it so you can continue your Starfield adventure.
After completing your last mission, A New Narrative, Imogene presents the next quest. Access is Key sends you to the planet Gagarin where you must sneak away with a security card held by a UC Security Chief. While you’re at Gagarin, check out the bar to get the Sure Bet quest.
It should be an easy job, but there are some pre-mission steps you can complete before blasting off. First, Imogene suggests purchasing a suit from the Ryujin lobby. Some suits there offer you a small 5% buff for your Persuasion chance. You can also buy a security uniform to trick the target. You should consider having at least one point in the Theft skill if you’d rather pickpocket.
Access is Key quest gives you a few options in Starfield
Once you reach Gagarin, step off your ship and head toward the town proper. The UC Security Chief should be standing by near the ship platform. You have three options:
- Persuade the chief to give you the card
- Pickpocket the chief for the card
- Kill the chief and take the card off his body
The best way to get the card without causing the entirety of the town to start shooting your ass is to persuade the chief. If you got the suit earlier, pressure him to give you the card in conversation. I managed to get a critical chance with my answer of “I’m not leaving until you give me what I want.” And he just… gave it to me, all the while sounding like he expected the card’s return. Well, no. Failing the persuasion skill is fine. You can either reload your game or try pickpocketing the chief for the card.
Return to Imogene and tell her the good news. You’ll earn some credits and med packs for your troubles. The next mission is Sowing Discord.
My mission took me somewhere else?
From what I’ve heard, the Access is Key mission can take you to a different target. Some have made their way to The Clinic in the Narion system or HopeTown in the Valo system. No matter where the game sends you, the steps will always be the same. So don’t worry if the quest sends you to a different location.
