Grendel, Warframe’s resident buffet expert, will be getting the Prime treatment next. Prime Warframes are fancier looking, slightly buffered versions of the base Frames and tend to be a little harder to get. Seeing as Grendel had some awkwardness in acquisition missions, this one should be a bit easier, however. Anyone who has been eager for this gastronomic god to arrive doesn’t have much longer to wait.
What is the release date of Grendel Prime in Warframe?
Grendel Prime will be released on October 18, along with the Abyss of Dagath update. He will be available to farm in the game or can be purchased as part of Prime Access. As usual, a range of accessories, Platinum, and whatever prime weapons are released at the same time are also expected to be part of the Prime Access offerings.
How will Grendel Prime differ from normal Grendel?
Grendel Prime will benefit from slightly higher base armor and energy than the standard variant. As always, these differences are not huge, but they can be a big difference-maker with the right mods and builds.
Grendel Prime abilities
Grendel will have the exact same abilities as the normal variant, but for those who don’t know what they are, you can find the details below.
- Passive – Each enemy consumed grants Grendel 250 bonus armor. This is capped at five enemies and 1250 bonus armor.
- Feast – Swallow an enemy whole and store it in Grendelās gut. Hold to vomit out stored enemies, covering them in toxic bile. This inflicts Toxin damage on enemies that you hit.
- Nourish – Regenerate health as Grendel absorbs nourishment from enemies in his gut. While he digests, enemies that attack or are attacked by Grendel suffer Viral Damage, and energy sources provide more energy. These buffs extend to squad mates.
- Pulverize – Grendel curls into a ball. He heals over time as he rolls, knocking over anyone in his path. Jumping slams Grendel into the ground and generates a damaging shockwave.
- Regurgitate – Violently puke out a bile-soaked enemy from Grendelās gut, turning the consumed into a toxic projectile. Nearby enemies are slowed and have their armor dissolved by the bile.
While he has never really made the meta for many players, Grendel is a fun Warframe to play, and hopefully, the Prime version breathes some life into him for the community. I’m a big fan of the boar-like design of the Prime version, digging on the tusks instead of the more single-horn vibe of the basic model.
