You may or may not be aware that Namco Bandai made an aggressive bid for D3 Publisher by purchasing a majority of the company’s stock, which would mean D3 would become a subsidary of Namco. Siliconera reports that the deal is done, with Namco coming away with 95.2 % of D3 Publisher’s shares and the total deal valued at 1,239,380,000 yen ($12.55 million).

What does this mean for D3? Well, Namco Bandai say they plan to keep the Simple series coming, so fans of games like Earth Defense Force 2017 and Onechanbara can still look forward to more of the same in that vein. Beyond that, we don’t have much more to go on. Obviously, Namco Bandai is interested in increasing their presence overseas, but the more important question, obviously, is this: when is the next Earth Defense Force game coming and how fast can you put it in my hot little hands?
